I've installed Squirrel in Windows and Fedora before, and both of
those platforms get a shortcut/launcher Icon during the install.
However, when I issue the following in Ubuntu 8.10:
sudo java -jar squirrel-sql-2.6.8-install.jar
I get prompted as to whether I want shortcuts, but they don't actually
appear anywhere. I would expect them to show up in Applications >
Programming and on the Desktop, but I they don't.
Is this a bug in the installer, or is this a known issue--that
Ubuntu's Squirrel installation process isn't *quite* as polished as
those other platforms? (Or, did I just do something wrong during the
installation?)
Thanks,
Jamie
