[Squirrel-sql-users] Where does the graph plugin store the graphs?

Good morning everybody,

Since a couple of days I am using the graph plugin. It's great... First of
all my compliments :clap:to Gerd the author.

I have saved several complex graphs, using rightclick+save graph, but
how/where do I retrieve them? I wasn't able to find this info neither in the
online help, nor browsing nabble.

The essence of the graphs are saved in
<user.home>/.squirrel-sql/plugins/graph/*.xml.  You can also save them
as images (jpg) if you check the "Zoom/Print" option and click the
Save icon in the bottom right corner.

Rob, thanks for replying,

In my case that directory contains a single file format.xml with the DIN
paper formats, plus one I created myself. [Is this what you mean by
"essence"?] I cannot find any trace of the tables involved in the graph. I
understand from your words that I must save the graph as raster image using
the Zoom-Print option. Am I right?

When I save a graph, I see a message in the message panel like this:

Graph "New table graph" saved to
"/home/manningr/.squirrel-sql/plugins/graph/jdbc_postgresql___localhost_5432_dbcopysrc.New_table_graph.graph.xml"

When I open it with an editor I see the tables represented in XML.  An
when I open the session that I created the graph from, it shows as a
tab right next to the SQL tab (I right-clicked on the graph and chose
"Save Graph" previously.

If you want to use it in some other tool, then yes, you should.

It should just be using the alias name.  Is your alias name that long?

Adding something more to the description: when I use the command
"rightclick-rename graph" to rename my graph from TEST_SECONDO_GIORNO to
TEST I see down in the message window the following text:

So it looks like something is being attempted to save. I never saw such a
long filename; in theory must be OK, but anyhow the XML's aren't in the
directory. Something seems to go wrong in the creation, but I don't see
what.
The overall log does not mention anything going wrong with the graph plugin.

It is not the alias name but the JDBC-URL. To me looks like you, Muzietto, are 
using a lot of parameters in your URL. Am I right?

You are both correct. I see now the filename contains my URL. The connection
string I got to connect to the db is very long. I reckon it must be somehow
old-fashioned, because I've been using also a more compact syntax with
Oracle.

Anyway this conn.string is what my dba uses and distributes. I have just
found a helper site connectionstrings.com and will try to translate the
string into something more manageable. I could even do a favour to my dba
;-)

I looked for the files everywhere on the hard disk. They're simply not
there. Gotta make my URL shorter.

That is a neat site that I have not seen before.  One thing I noted
however, is a lack of JDBC connection strings - it seems to be giving
only ODBC - style connection strings. For example in the Oracle
section I see no "jdbc:oracle:thin...." strings.  Otherwise, they have
obviously spent a great deal of time compiling what they have.
