Running 3.5 on Java 7 U 21 and I can't help but notice it seems slower than 3.4...While the timer function is nice, it looks like for the first 3-4 seconds it's not actually running the query. An extreme example is a query I run daily over a tbale to give me entries from the last 24 hours. Yesterday that query ran on 3.4 in about 15-20 seconds and returned 9 hits. Today, it took 199 seconds on 3.5.0 (the timer didn't even start for a good 20-30 seconds) and only returned one hit. Well, I found the issue... It was corrupted file fw.jar... I downloaded it from Squirrel website, and it started to work... Did you try forward slashes?
Also, here's an example I found online:
jdbc:firebirdsql://localhost:3050/C:/FirebirdDB/EMPLOYEEDB.fdb
Did you try slashes before localhost and instead of the colon separating
the port number and the database file path?

I'm working with Squirrel 3.4.0 connecting to Oracle over a shaky VPN connection using the Oracle Thin JDBC driver. I've noticed that even if Squirrel is sitting idle for some time and, during that time, I lose connection to the database and then come back and try to run a query that it doesn't run and I get something like a "closed connection error". (even though I currently do have connectivity when attempting to run it). The only way I see is to close my query window and reconnect to the alias. Question 1: 1. Is this an issue with Squirrel, the driver, or Oracle? 2. Any way around this? I routinely use SQL commands that run into several pages of the text - how unwieldy are you willing to make the settings to satisfy your wish? And what if you changed something in the command, e.g., added or changed WHERE clause or ORDER BY clause? Do you expect SQuirreL to analyze your SQL commands to distinguish between this changes and changes in the structure of the result? I am not sure that disabling a confirmation dialog is such a good idea - I don't know about you, but I did click on the wrong "close" icon occasionally. Thanks Marcin. I wasn't sure what the difference between the App and Net drivers was. I tried the Net driver again, with the Extra Classpath you specified, and I got closer. Now it's failing because of a user/pswd problem: java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: java.lang.RuntimeException: com.ibm.db2.jcc.am.SqlInvalidAuthorizationSpecException: [jcc][t4][2013][11249][4.15.82] Connection authorization failure occurred. Reason: User ID or Password invalid. ERRORCODE=-4214, SQLSTATE=28000 I tried using db2admin, both with the password I changed it to have in Active Directory and the default of db2admin; I also tried the Administrator userid/pswd. I realize this is not strictly a Squirrel SQL Client issue, but I'm new to both it and DB2 for LUW. I'm more used to DB2 for i. I've created an IBM DB2 database named MIRdb, and then tried to connect
to it using the Squirrel SQL Client version 3.4.0.
The driver is:
Name: IBM DB2 App Driver

Hello All, I've been using Squirrel SQL for about 9 months now to access Sybase databases and I'm generally very happy with it, but one aspect that would really improve things for me is the display sequence of tables in the Object tab. At our installation all of our databases are configured as case insensitive but the Squirrel SQL seems to adhere strictly to case sensitive, thus giving me two completely separate lists to work with - e.g. tables with the names of Order and order_items are not adjacent to each other in the list. Is it possible to make the table lists case insensitive? I've asked this before and not had a reply - can I assume from that that this is not possible? Hi Ben! The problem in your DDL script is the name of the index. This is your script: CREATE UNIQUE INDEX PRIMARY ON tbl_test2(id) This means you want to create an index named "PRIMARY" on the table tbl_test2. But an index named "PRIMARY" already exists on the table tbl_test. Tipically the name of indexes must be unique at the database level, so you have to change the name of the new index. Regarding your DROP instruction, the problem is that you have referential integrity constraints on that table. The table is a parent in the constraint, so you cannot drop it. You should learn a bit on referential integrity to understand what's going on. Basically, you have a link between one of more child table and a parent table, so that some of the data in the child tables depend on the data present in the parent table. When you create those links, you can specify to the DBMS what it should do when someone tries to invalidate the link (e.g. by deleting one row in the parent table). You have various possible actions; one of those actions is to simply refuse deleting or dropping the object. Obviously you can force it, at the risk of trashing your data, so I'll let it to you to discover how ;-) Hope this helps.
