[Squirrel-sql-users] A question about DB2 and columns with format CHAR () FOR BIT DATA

Hello!

We have lots of uid-columns in our DB2 database that use the following format:
CHAR () FOR BIT DATA

Squirrel does not handle these colums that well. In default the show up as:
*:j1¡_ �û36i��Cû
The closest that I can get with fiddling with View/Format -> View as..->Binary is
x'2A3A6A31A15F203FFB3336693F3F43FB'
(using native and nothing for character encoding).
The thing is, I can't use that value for things like select * from table where uid = x'2A3A6A31A15F203FFB3336693F3F43FB'. I have to use the spacing that my other SQL Editor DBeaver provides, så select * from table where uid = x'2a 3a 6a 31 de 5f 11 e7 84 33 36 69 f7 f7 43 84 ' works.

So, is there a way to get Squirrel to handle thes types of columns correctly?

[Squirrel-sql-users] Not showing ALL Informix Stored Procedures

Hello!

I am having the problem that I cannot see ALL stored procedures in my
connected Informix database in the object tree. Unfortunately it is the
ones that I created.
I can see all others. I see them if I check the content of the
"sysprocedures" table.
I can select them with this SQL Statement for example:

SELECT
    *
FROM
    sysprocedures
WHERE
    isproc = 'f' and  procname like "sp_%";

I just cant see them in the object tree.

Unfortunately that is the only way I know where I can access the source
code of the procedure in a usable form. (formatting is correct, no
additional characters like " or ; that would break the code and so on.)

The only difference I notice is that they are created by a different user
(s. Screenshot).

Interestingly enough that is the user I use to connect to informix.

I hope someone is able to help with this. I don't have to have them in the
object tree. I only need to access the source code in a decent way. So if
someone knows how to do that, that would be enough.

I got it working now. I was able to find a system I had administrator authority on and downloaded the latest DB2 and moved from 3.7.1 to 3.9.1. So I am not sure of the root cause, but putting everything to the latest releases seemed to do the trick.

It’s working for me on version 3.8.0. 
I went to the objects tab - expanded the scheme- then opened the procedure tree and saw the 13 or so stored price I have there. I checked all of them clicking on one then switching the source tab. I the clicked through all of them. 

For the driver I’m using db2jcc.jar from IBM and the class name is com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver
I see another class listed in there com.ibm.db2.jcc.uw.DB2StoredProcDriver that might also be utilised. 
I’m running DB2 v10.5.0.8 FP 8

to it via JDBC. It was my second try within year and it again cost me 
several hours again.

[Squirrel-sql-users] How to make a query with WHERE

Hi,

I'm aware that I can just type in my SQL command, e.g.


SELECT property_id FROM property where property_key=12


Is there an easier solution to get the same result with just restricting 
to '12'? In PHPMyAdmin I have a mask where I can simply set the 
parameter I want to restrict.

To my understanding it seems promising to do it with Graph-table but I 
don't see a way how to add just the restriction to 'property_key=12' 
into the WHERE clause. As soon as I switch from the 'SELECT' to the 
'WHERE' tab forth and back the content of the WHERE is gone.

Any other ideas?

Yes, you can. Just pass the saved script to the standard installer call 
on the command line.

Here is an example for a Linux command line:
$JAVA_HOME/java -jar squirrel-sql-3.9.0-standard.jar <pathToScript>

Note: The standard file ending for the script is '.xml'

I found my problem.  I must confess that Windows is not my forte.  I discovered yesterday that Windows has two PATH variables.  I had added the new DLL folder to one path, but the old DLL was still on the other.  I removed the old DLL folder from the second PATH and now it works.

Try to connect  (with a vpn ) to Oracle 12c db, with driver ojdbc.jar (
this driver  work fine with primitve eclipse db client ).
Squirrel freeze, if disconnect from vpn, squirrel unfreeze and get only
schema names not table, not view, not seq, etc..

I'm afraid there isn't a way to do so.

If you or somebody else who has access to PostGIS would send me a patch 
or merge request for the Postgres Plugin or a new Plugin that implements 
the right display of PGPoints I'd be grateful.

[Squirrel-sql-users] How to setup Squirrel v3.8.1 for usage with Java 9?

After a while of inactivity (meanwhile I upgraded to (32bit) Java v1.8.0_181) I started again Squirrel v3.8.1 (under Win7)

Much to my surprise Squirrel seems to be no longer able to (auto)connect to started MySQL database v5.7.22

In the pane at the bottom of Squirrel I can read:

"Recent files settings are lost due to changes concerning Java 9 compatibility. Former settings can be found in ..\pSettings\RecentFilesXmlBean.xml."

Hmm, what does that mean?

How can I now connect to existing MySQL DB?

I've been using SQuirreL 3.7 until today, using integratedSecurity to connect to MS SQL Server.  I had to update my Java, so 3.7 no longer runs.  I loaded SQuirreL 3.8.1, and it runs but I can't get integratedSecurity to work.

With 3.7, I was using old MS drivers (dated 2009).  I downloaded mssql-jdbc-7.0.0.jre8.jar and the accompanying x86 sqljdbc_auth.dll.  That didn't work either.  I get this when I try to connect:
Unexpected Error occurred attempting to open an SQL connection.

You're almost there.  As Squirrel doesn't auto-discover JDBC drivers, putting the driver jars in the Squirrel directory doesn't do anything.  You have to explicitly point Squirrel to the drivers you want to use, so it doesn't matter where they are - I recommend leaving them outside the Squirrel directory, BTW.

To add a JDBC driver, see http://www.squirrelsql.org/index.php?page=screenshots, Step 1.  There are two parts - adding the required archive file to the classpath and then selecting the class file that provides the JDBC interface.

I’m new to Squirrel.

I’m trying to configure Squirrel to access a local Firebird database on a Windows computer.

I have the Squirrel Client 3.8.1 installed

The Firebird plugin (0.0.2) is loaded

I understand that I also need to load the Firebird driver, I’m not clear on how to do this

I have downloaded the driver: Jaybird-3.0.4-JDK_1.8

Extracted the ZIP, I’m unclear on where the files need to be placed

I have tried coping the files as follows:
