I found out why squirrel displayed squares for chinese charaters. I have to 
change font in global preferences to use arial unicode ms.

but i still don't know how to export resultset to csv with correct encoding.

I use squirrel to retrieve some records from ms sql server 2000. I use jtds 
1.2 jdbc driver. The records contain nvarchar field that contains chinese 
characters. However, chinese characters are displayed as squares.

I tried to copy(right-click and choose Copy) those squares and paste into 
Notepad. Notepad displays chinese characters correctly. But if I Copy As 
HTML and paste into Notepad, chinese characters will be displayed as ??. May 
I know how to solve this problem?

I also need to export (right-click and choose Export CSV/MS Excel ...) the 
resultset to csv file. But if I open the exported CSV file with Notepad or 
Excel, the chinese characters are displayed as ??. Is there anyway to export 
using different encoding?

  SquirreL is one of the best OpenSource apps I've ever used. I haven't
used TOAD a single time so far on this project. Here's another
workaround I used. getclobval(). "input" is the column name and is
indeed an XMLType though in Oracle 9.2.0.1.0.

select w.input.getclobval() from ws_report w  where =
operation=3D'addOrder'
and success=3D0 and db_date_added > sysdate -1

Sorry, there is no support for the SQL-2003 XML type yet.  If you are
using Oracle, then for now you can use
XMLSERIALIZE(CONTENT(<xmltype>). For example:

create table XMLTable (doc_id number, xml_data XMLType);

insert into XMLTable values (1,

My Squirrel window flickers every minute or two.  The whole window =
flashes off for =BD second and back on again.  I ran across a suggestion =
to add "-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=3Dtrue" to the startup command line, which =

Going back and forth between 2.5.1 and 2.2 is not something we tested
specifically.  I think it should be fine if no changes to aliases or
driver defs is made after switching versions.  However, we converted
the format of the older SQLAliases.xml to SQLAliases23.xml in version
2.3 and above.  So - correct me if I'm wrong Gerd - but there could be
some issue related to saving alias definitions after
installing/un-installing 2.5.1 (which creates the SQLAliases23.xml
file) then modifying alias definitions using 2.2 - which uses
SQLAliases.xml - and then going back into 2.5 and attempting to use
them.

The other gotcha that I think you might be seeing (PrefixedConfig
class missing) is attempting to install different versions in the same
directory location.  This is not something that we currently support
and the installer should warn you against doing this.

I would recommend installing 2.5.1 in a fresh location and giving it
one more try (fixing any issues with driver/alias defs you encounter
as Gerd suggested).  Let us know how it goes.

In your driver window open your driver definition and look at the "Extra Class 
Path" tab. You must add the path to your driver jar here. When done the driver 
definition should be marked with a blue hook in the drivers window.

Finally in your Alias definition make sure the right driver definition is used.

time.

I forgot to state that I am using version 2.2 Final. I tried to uninstall
and reinstall 2.51, but the problem seemed get worse and I couldn't even log
in to any of my databases, hitting errors about user name and pasword not
matching even though SQLPlus had no problems with the username and password.

I since reverted back to ver 2.2 and trying to find a solution to the
problem.  I will try again with the re-installation, but I am hoping for
another solution.

This looks much like a installation problem. It's pretty sure that it doesn't 
have anything to do with your DB connection.

I'd simply try to reinstall SQuirreL.

[Squirrel-sql-users] Error in Squirrel when connecting to Database

I have a question. Doing a search didn;'t get me any results, so i don't know
if this is a common problem or not.

When I try to connect to a database, Oracle Thin Client, I get this message

Error occured in IPlugin.sessionCreated() for SQL Entry Code Completion

After clicking Ok on the error message pop-up, I can access the database,
but a lot of features are disabled, including removing the limitation of 100
rows displayed (even though this has ben disabled form the global
preferences), editing the database, and others.

Am I missing something? My SQuirreL was working fine until I tried to
connect to a DB2 database one day and since then, my ORACLE database
connections have been acting up.

[Squirrel-sql-users] Database Tables - Unable to see

I'm using an Informix driver - com.informix.jdbc.IfxDriver - and am not able 
to see anything on the right half of the display - such as the tables in the 
database (even after requesting a refresh and waiting).  I am able to 
connect and execute SQL statements.  Sorry if I'm not expressing this well - 
I'm not overly technical.

Hi,

could you please send me the query together with your sql_history.xml file from 
your SQuirreL user directory. The first tab of the global preferences window 
tells you where to find this directory.

[Squirrel-sql-users] search in sql history fails

Hi all
When searching in the sql history, squirrel can't find strings that I can see with my own eyes as being in the sql editor text area. 

That particular query which I'm searching for was actually executed several days earlier (I didn't close squirrel).

The DB2 plugin creates those Index nodes under the table by querying
the system catalog with the following query:

select INDNAME from SYSCAT.INDEXES
where TABSCHEMA = <schema>
and TABNAME = <table>

That would certainly be strange given that you can query them fine.
Are you looking under the "dbo" node, which is under your catalog in
the tree?

Yes, this looks like a bug.  If you create a database in MS SQL-Server
called pop-dev,
and try to execute the following query it fails:

SELECT * FROM pop-dev.dbo.mytab

We reference the table incorrectly by not quoting the catalog as in:

SELECT * FROM "pop-dev".dbo.mytab

Can you write a bug report here (if you login you will get
notification when the bug is fixed/closed)

I don=E2=80=99t know where I can go to see/modify the sql that is used =

You know, when I first started using SQuirrel I was surprised about the =
amount of time it took for those tabs to populate.  I thought at first =
there was an issue with the driver.  This probably sounds strange, but =
have you tried to click on the tabs and leave them for 5 minutes or so?=20
