According the link in your mail I'd try

Driver Class Name: com.inet.tds.TdsDriver

JDBC URL: jdbc:inetdae7:<hostName>:<portNumber>?database=<databaseName>
where the default port number is 1433.


Please note that it is not the best choice to copy drivers to SQuirreL's 
lib directory. Better add it on the "Extra Class Path" tab of the driver 
dialog. Advantages are:
- The List Drivers buttons prefills the driver class name combo box. 
(Usually, though not always, a driver jar contains a single driver class 
only.)
- You are able to work with different versions of a driver.

Have a look at SQuirreL's bookmarks. See menu Session --> Bookmarks --> 
Add Bookmark / Edit Boolmarks. These menus item are also available as 
toolbar buttons.
Use the ctrl+J shortcut to copy a bookmark to the SQL editor.

Please also see the "SQL Bookmark Plugin" section of SQuirreL's help.

Several of functions like these can be found in the "Scripts" section of 
the right mouse menu in the Object tree when a table is selected.

Usually you just need to pass parameters as you would in a plain SQL, 
for example:
{ call ProcName(1) }
or
{ call ProcName(1, 'Hello world') }

You can't.
Or to say it in the sense of the JDBC API: With SQuirreL you can't 
dynamically call java.sql.Connection.prepareStatement(...).

To me that's a strange behavior. Probably you should consult your 
database or JDBC driver vendor.

have Merlia.jar in my lib directory.

When I attempt to add a new driver using this new Merlia.jar file it
prompts for a class path as well as other details

Hi,

working with databases requires quite often to use one of the  
following sql "patterns":

SELECT * FROM  WHERE
INSERT INTO () VALUES()
UPDATE  SET  WHERE
DELETE FROM  WHERE

Is it possible to implement a small piece of code so that each of  
these "prototypes" will be created in the sql command window, e.g.  
CRTL + ALT + S for the SELECT statement?


The script plugin doesn't seem to support delete, update and select *.

Please, is it possible to add these operations, too?



The code completion does not work with substrings, i.e. given a table  
name "TEST" will be displayed only when typing TE..

If SOME substring of TEST is uses, e.g. start typing ST the table name  
is not found (or any other object).

Is it possible to add this feature? Oftenly users cannot exactly  
remember the name of a table exactly so this w'd be quite useful  
(highlighting the typed string additionally at best).

I noticed command completion in a WHERE clause sorts columns to the  
top which is great, but in general some kind of highlighting of  
spicific types with a dedicated colour, e.g. for columns, or generally  
using a symbol for the object type w'd make it even better.

Showing a VIEW with (VIEW) is very useful already but maybe this can  
still be extended further.

The URL on your connection should be something like:

jdbc:db2:// devcent1-provi:50000/<SCHEMA>:securityMechanism=11;

For the security mechanism values – I found a software help doc that lists them out. I’m sure IBM has a helpdoc on this – but this seemed more user friendly 😊 :

Based on the error – it appears that your DB2 server isn’t configured for the security mechanism you attempted. By default , I believe, It uses 3 (Cleartext Username/Password). If you add the securityMechanism parameter to your URL that **SHOULD** work.

[Squirrel-sql-users] Call stored Procedure and update with params

Hi guys,

I am wondering how to call a stored procedure from squirrel sql editor.

With jdbc driver I use { call ProcName(?) } and pass the parameter to 
the statement.

Is there a way to do this in squirrel?

Also I was wondering how I can do an update an pass a parameter with ?

Cause I have the following problem. I want to update a table and insert 
some json. But if I provide the json in the set then afterwards the 
value is null:

update senddata set sed_ssendto = '{"type": "mail"}';

After running the command sed_ssendto is null. I have the same when I 
update the table with that command using jdbc / java.

But when I execute the statement with parameters like update senddata 
set sed_ssendto = ? and again pass the json as param it is working.

No, sorry, that was a misunderstanding.

What I meant was a piece of Java code like this:

Class.forName("COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver");
Connection conn =
DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:db2//server/dbname","user","passwd");


Somewhere in such a piece of code Kerberos must play a role.

Back in the "old days" we used MSSQL drivers by i-net. I just looked at 
the documentation of i-net Merlia driver for MS SQL Server that comes 
with the download and at least it still mentions SQL Server 2005 (even 
of SQL Server 7.0 and 2000)

and installed the latest Microsoft JDBC Driver 8.2 from

I've installed this driver and created an alias but it won't connect. I
suspect that the current driver can't be used to access 2005. The last
driver listed as being for MSSWL2005 is 1.2 which is no longer available.

Does anyone have any suggestions for connecting to a MSSQL2005 dB using
Squirrel?

This won't work out of the box because only the first part (i.e. 
'/tmp/customers') will be interpreted as the file name the rest will be 
interpreted as part of your SQL. That's why the error occurs.

In case you are interested in implementing the feature please look at 
class SQLToFileHandler. I'd suggest to include some of the formatting 
described here:

I believe I’m having the same issue that Emiliano reported earlier this month.

Has anyone successfully installed the 4.0 version on a Mac without issue?

I had a working copy of SquirelSQL that I had used for a long time.  I believe it was 3.8.  I needed a new plugin, so I tried to re-install using the 4.0 installer.  After that, Squirrel would not launch from the Application directory (no error, no screen, nothing), but I was able to launch it from the command line running the shell script.  I selected many (6?) plugins during installation, but, none were listed in the app on the plugins tab.  I noticed the directory listed in the plugins tab was looking for was:
/Applications/SQuirreLSQL.app/Contents/MacOS/./plugins
So, I made a symlink to /Applications/SQuirreLSQL.app/plugins

That got the plugin to load.  But, I noticed that there was only 1 plugin even though I had selected many in the installer.

I can’t figure out how to load individual plugins without the installer, and I can’t figure out how to extract the plugins from the installer jar either.

I tried the 3.9.1 version with the same issues.

A co-worker zipped up his installation of 3.8.1.  I dropped it in my applications directory, and now everything is working fine.

As time permits, I’d be happy to help debug this with some guidance as I’ve never worked on this project before, but… either something in the 3.9/4.0 versions don’t work on Macs, or, the installer doesn’t work, or… something else.

I’ve really gotten a ton of use out of SquirrelSQL… I’d really like to see it working correctly on Macs again.

You're right!! That's what it was.

And I can see now that the class has been removed from the newer derby
jars, it has a new class AutoLoadedDriver but that never worked.
