Just one note. I'm desperately trying to get the stable version of
1.2 out the door (1.1 was released in Nov 2002, nearly 2 years ago)
so I'd prefer this done in the next version. Thats not to say you
can't start now however and be ready to go once 1.2 stable is

A setting in "Session Preferences" saying whether to do the lookup
or not not coupled with a way of overriding this setting at a table
level would help.

Shouldn't be a problem. I've currently got a patched version of SQuirreL
(courtsy of Jason Height) that allows multiple object trees within a single
session and I'm quite happily viewing different tables at the same time. FYI
this patch will be in beta8.
