You have a couple of options. You could download the 1.5/1.6 JDK and install it on another machine, then zip up the directory and extract it on your machine that runs SQuirreL. Just be sure to edit squirrel-sql.sh (on linux): export JAVA_HOME=3D<path to extracted jdk> or edit squirrel-sql.bat (on windows): set JAVA_HOME=3D<path to extracted jdk> Where I work, we develop and test our J2EE application using Java 1.4.2. That is the installed version on my desktop machine. However, I always run SQuirreL and Eclipse in the latest VM (1.6) via the method I outlined above.
