[Squirrel-sql-users] squirrlesql / Error: Failed to open Wayland display, fallback to X11.

Hello,

Running squirrlesql on debian with the plasma desktop.
This fails to bring up the java swing interface and instead errors and 
opens a webpage with the squirrel user interface.  What causes this error 
and how is it resolved so the Java GUI runs?

export XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland
java -jar h2-2.3.232.jar 
Error: Failed to open Wayland display, fallback to X11. 
WAYLAND_DISPLAY='wayland-0' DISPLAY=':1'
