[Squirrel-sql-users] port out of range - SquirreL 3.8.1

Hello guys,
could you please advice on how can I increase the range for the port numbers ?
I am getting the following error when connecting through TCP/IP using port = 88888, there is not option to change it because many servers point to it since many years ago. So the only problem is with SQuirreL.

Unexpected Error occurred attempting to open an SQL connection.
class java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: port out of range:88888
