Hi Matt. I'm using Lubuntu 17.10 I think it may be specific to me. I 've tried the 3.8.1 standard jar, the current snapshot jar, and also the 3.7 standard jar from my last install (which worked ok last time, but on a different machine - see below). I sort of feel that I am missing one of the Ubuntu packages, but my problem is which one! Some more background - my home dir (which included the 3.7 jar) was copied from another disk when I moved machines to the NUC recently. The system was a fresh install on this machine though...so that reinforces my suspicion that I'm missing a package. And the fact that not one of the three jars I've tried has worked points me to a machine specific problem, not the software.
