[Squirrel-sql-users] How to disable query metadata for mysql

Hello Users,

We access mysql using squirrel from a remote site. It gets painfully slow
for use executing simple indexed queries. We looked with tcpdump and found
that with each mysql resultset the server sends a lot of information which
we might do without.

We tried to disable the settings in alias->Properties but when we click
'Connect database to refresh schema table' nothing happens. We are using
Squirrel client version 3.4.0 with mysql-connector-java-5.0.8-bin.jar.

Has anyone been through this problem before or help us how to go about it..
