Oh, you are running a IBM-JVM :-)
Is this the full stacktrace in the logfile? Usually, stacktraces where
Springframework is involved are much longer.
You can see a NullPointerException in a GenericTypeResolver of
Springframework. To ensure, that this doesn't depend on your IBM-Java,
it would be nice, if you can try this with OpenJDK or Oracle's JVM.
If you want an easy solution, I suggest you to download the plain zip
package of SQuirreL 3.4.0 and I am sure, you will have no troubles. You
will not loose your settings.
But on the other hand, if you can test some various Java Versions, then
you can help us to improve SQuirreL.
