All,
All future snapshot/release installers will now detect if the
installer is being run with jvm version < 1.5 and ask the user to run
with 1.5 or higher. Also, there is a new panel (JDK Panel) which will
give the user an opportunity to pick an alternate JDK location (by
default showing the path to the JVM being used to run the installer).
This is to support recent changes made in preparation for the 2.4
release, which require at least 1.5 for compilation and runtime. We
will be announcing this on the news list as well as documenting it on
the website (when 2.4 is released). Just wanted you all to be aware
of the change we decided to make recently. Folks that don't choose to
upgrade to 1.5 (or higher - Java 6 improvements have made it a
supported jvm now as well) will need to stick with the current latest
stable release - which is 2.3.2.
