I used a connection string similar to yours to connect to a database on
our cluster and had no problems at all -- I was using the same versions
of SQuirreL and the Oracle JDBC driver. I don't remember if you said
what version of Oracle you're running.
In your original message you said something like "Each cluster has a lot
of database instances". Did you actually mean "instances" or did you
mean "schemas"?
Since you're only connecting to one instance at a time, the number of
database instances on a server shouldn't matter to SQuirreL, but if you
meant many schemas in a database, then maybe (and this is a WAG) there
are too many schemas in your database for SQuirreL to handle and
something overflows causing the problem with the Object tab. If you did
mean schemas, how many do you have in the database? If you didn't mean
schemas, then I'm not sure why you would have problems.
