If you are behind a firewall (hence you can access the download page but
not the CVS repository)
then you may want to try the "port 80" alias for the CVS repository.
Try using this as CVSROOT:
:pserver:ano...@cv...:80/cvsroot/squirrel-sql
as in
cvs -d :pserver:ano...@cv...:80/cvsroot/squirrel-sql login
(password is empty)
Then checkout the "sql12" directory as in
cvs -d :pserver:ano...@cv...:80/cvsroot/squirrel-sql
co sql12
