If you find this is the culprit, SQuirreL must be doing something slightly odd. OS X is supposed to have a location to the VM aliased that changes as you upgrade VM versions. There are folders to the individual VMs in case you, for some reason, wanted to explicitly use one or the other, but everything should point to the "generic" location by default.
