I constantly use Squirrel at work with an Oracle server running on Solaris
and haven't had this problem. I use Oracle 8.1.6 and the 8.1.6 thin drivers.
Which version of Squirrel are you using? If you're using 1.0final try the
latest beta of 1.1 and see if you have the same problem (just make sure you
backup your driver and alias definition file first. They're in your
<home>/.squirrel-sql directory). There has been a lot of code cleanup done
and it may make a difference.
In the schema that you click on how many tables are there?

3. clicked on the table item
I am running Win98 on a 1G Duron w/256 megs of ram and I have jsdk1.4.0
installed. I am using oracle thin driver classes12.zip . My connection is to
an Oracle Database on a Unix server that I am accessing through a VPN.
