A workaround:
You could create 2 aliases on you production DB and set a different color for each of them.
Pre-set the username so that no confusion is possible
ex:
PRODDB - Readonly, colored green, with your read only user in the username field
PRODDB - Admin, red, with your write-capable user in the username field
