[Squirrel-sql-users] SQuirreL hangs when loading schema (for a pretty large database)

Hi,

I'm trying to use the client to connect to my peoplesoft instance and 
I've run into some trouble.

I've configured the drivers for Oracle and Informix. I was able to 
create connections to both Oracle and Informix databases. The 'test 
connection' reported that the connection was made successfully.

However, when I tried to actually connect to the database, the client 
hung and did not become responsive even after a one hour wait.


I was able to successfully connect to the Oracle database after 
disabling the schema cache feature - ie I went to connection properties, 
'specify schema and caching', connected to the database to fetch schema, 
and set all to 'don't load'. I guess I loose some features from this (I 
guess autocomplete?), but that's fine with me.

However, I'm unable to disable the schema load for Informix - the client 
hangs straight out when I try to 'connect to the db load the schema 
table' . There seems to be no way to disable load / cache schema without 
loading the schema in the first place.


Any idea what could be wrong? Is there an alternative way to disable 
loading of the schema altogether?
