Hi all,
I recently switched from the Sql Server Client application to the Squirrel
Client. And while I think Squirrel is a very good multi-lingual sql
graphical client, I do have some issues with how Squirrel handles memory.
Why on earth does squirrel keep all the results of a query in RAM? In a
production environment where you might run a query with results of a Gig or
more, this really eats up your computer's memory fast. Why doesn't Squirrel
write those results to disk and then only pull them if they are being
viewed. This is how Microsoft's Sql Client works and is able to run a query
with 2 GB of results, yet only take up less than 300 MB of RAM. It writes
it all to disk until the user tries to view it.
I don't know if this is in the pipeline for you fellows or not, but it
should be.
Any comments?
