Finally I have localized the problem, it turns out that my
choice of jvm (the IBM jvm) is rather unfortunate. I can't
seem to get the bridge to work with it, whereas with the blackdown
jvm it does work.
Neither IBM java2 1.3.0 nor 1.3.1 do the trick, I will redirect
the problem to IBM.
Anyway, thanks for the help, cool application by the way!
