#454 Add JTattoo Themes

JTattoo is free to distribute with non-commercial applications.

It also has some quite nice looking themes:

I can add the default LAF with the ~/.squirrel-sql/plugins/laf/extralafs route but I can't activate the themes.

Can you add jtattoo and a way of selecting its themes (like SkinLF) to the default distribution please.

The license isn't open source, so we cannot distribute the software with our app (SourceForge TOS). Unless we want it to be broken right out-of-the-box (meaning the user has to download and install it manually), you need to convince the author to license it using an open source license. Also, we use maven for builds so a Maven artifact would be needed. This can be done only once the project has an open-source license (Maven Central TOS)

I contacted the author and he is considering switching to the LGPL V3 as long as the license allows him to earn some money for the commercial use of JTattoo.

Is that licence compatible with the TOS you mention?

LGPL v3 is an acceptable OSS license. In fact, we use LGPL v2 for SQuirreL.

    Good news!
A new version (1.6.5) of JTattoo has been released and the license has changed to GPLv2 or later for open source projects.

do you know how to smoothly integrate the JTattoo libs with Maven?

The artifact is now in Maven Central, and I am adding support for it to the LAF plugin.

This is available in the Git repo. Also available in the next snapshot release. This ticket should be closed.
