I was wondering if it is possible to declare a variable ahead of calling a stored procedure which has one parameter defined as OUT or INOUT

For e.g. I have a stored procedure defined as

Procedure in_test(OUT P1 Character(1), IN P2 Character(500))

now when I try to call this procedure like

call in_test(:inval, 'hello')

A pop up requests me to enter value for :inval and then I get the error as,

Error: [SQL0469] IN, OUT, or INOUT not valid for parameter 1 in procedure CMPLT_QRY in *N.
SQLState: 42886
ErrorCode: -469

It could be that I am using is incorrectly. Otherwise I don't see how I can call this stored procedure.

thanks for the good work,

Bhaskar
