I just installed 3.0 over the top of 2.6.8 and I got this error when launching:

Could not find the main class. Program will exit.

java -version on Windows XP:

java version "1.6.0_07"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_07-b06)

I also uninstalled it, then re-installed from scratch. Same problem.

Sorry, my JAVA_HOME set set to a 1.5 JDK. I manually edited the squirrel-sql.bat file to clear out my JAVA_HOME.

I will add an item to the FAQ that addresses what users should do if faced with this error dialog. There is obviously very little that we can do to fix Java in this project.

I've added a new jar (versioncheck.jar) that I compiled with 1.2.2 and incorporated it into the launch script. It will detect a JVM version that is not acceptable and show a dialog stating this condition, as well as the version of the JVM used and where it is located.
