#1122 30-40% CPU load while doing nothing

No

I am using 3.5.0 client with Java build 1.7.0_45-b18 on OS X 10.9.1. The client is always using 30-40% CPU when doing nothing. That is, on initial launch, with no active connections, running in the background, and left to stabilize for a minute there is a consistent 30-40% CPU load.

I have not measured the rate of drain on the battery but I suspect it is high. Certainly, the laptop gets hot and quickly.

I'm new to Squirrel and I'm getting the same thing. Just installed 3.5.2 and JDK 1.8. Running Mac OS 10.9.2 on MBP Retina 2012. Not impressed with Squirrel. I had to switch to a power cord as it was killing my battery! Mysterious status bar at the bottom of the app looks like it's downloading something. Have not found any explanation what it is. Cut the wifi off and it keeps going, so it's apparently not downloading anything. Ugh.

The same problem. This is really a blocker of my usage!

I have the same issue with Squirrel 3.5.2 on Mac OS X/JDK 1.7.

There seem to be a workaround: disabling the status bar have dropped CPU usage to almost 0% when idling. At least for me it did.

Disable status bar in Preferences > General by unticking "Show Main Window Status Bar". A restart may be required.

Woohoo, thank you for the workaround, sir!
