As far as I can see the compiling Smallatalk into any other language than natural assembler of the machine is waste of time. HAL - ok but as I would like to see have it done in object oriented manner. have the smalltalk generate assembly rutines which will be than called for for higer level I/O . That is my 0.02$ . Binary comapatibility with existing drivers for linux or other free OS would be huge step forward. Have a nice time.
