Hi fellow Squeakers! As you may have noticed we have spent some time getting stuff up and running on our new SqF server - box1.squeakfoundation.org. This is a "community owned" virtual server hosted at Bytemark.co.uk running Debian. It currently hosts BFAV, mailinglists and will also host SM in a few hours. It will also host whatever more community services we need. Currently it is mainly maintained by me, Cees de Groot and Ken Causey but Avi Bryant and Marcus Denker also have root access. Regarding the stuff currently on SourceForge - the only thing that I can see that we still need to do something with is the mailinglist archive of squeak-vmdev. I have emailed Bert Freudenberg privately on that. But for the rest: 1. Files The files section from SF has been copied over (including release notes) to: http://box1.squeakfoundation.org/files/ You can see how to mirror it using rsync at: http://box1.squeakfoundation.org/files/MIRRORING.txt Anyone needing to serve files in that dir (Andreas for example) can use scp. There is an account called sqfiles that we use for that, in order to get access - send me your public ssh key (~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub) that you can generate using "ssh-keygen -t dsa". Currently it only holds the Win32 VM files, but it would be neat if we could also host the other VMs in the same place. Note that the various other VM master sites may still of course be around - like Ian's site for example. If it helps we can probably set up rsync also. 2. Mailinglist The new box uses ezmlm, a lean fast and nice mailinglist-program. There is now a new VM-dev list (meant to replace this one) at: vm...@di... You subscribe to it by sending an email to: vm-...@di... We haven't created a commit-list or anything - I am not sure who would want that. No bulk resubscribing will be done - you will just have to do it yourselves. :) 3. CVS (Subversion) The CVS on SF is already obsolete. The new box has Subversion installed and is set up to mirror the current master repository at HP every 10 minutes. The mirror is currently readonly and available through WebDav at: http://box1.squeakfoundation.org/svn/mirrors/squeak One user reported that you may have problems accessing it from behind a proxy, see http://subversion.tigris.org/faq.html#proxy. A workaround was to use Socks5. So...AFAICT we don't really use any of the other services on SF. People, any comments? Anything we have missed? If not we are getting ready to move. regards, Göran and Co. |
