but exec does not work inside sql file.

Let me know.
thanks
Satish Chitnis

create procedure "Web_schm_proc" as
begin
insert into SPSS_RDM_D_SCHEMA_VERSION Values
(S_RDM_D_SCHEMA_ID.NextVal, 'Web', '0.00.000.190',
null,
SYSDATE, SYSDATE);
end;
/
exec Web_schm_proc

Assigning to myself. I need some more information:
    1) Did this start happening with 4.1?
    2) Does it work when you have no create procedure calls in
    the file?
    3) What is the error message it gives you when this happens?
    4) It may be helpful to post the debug trace as well. To do
this run the sqlunit ant task with debug="true".

The reason I ask is because the IncludeHandler currently
uses Statement objects to run whatever is passed to it.
Based on the bug, my first thought was that it does not run
because it needs a CallableStatement, but I have seen stored
procedures being run in Sybase using a Statement and
PreparedStatement construct, not sure if Oracle insists on a
CallableStatement. If so, I may then just make it pass
    through CallableStatement.

I also plan to support shell script invocation hooks with
this change, so you can just call sqlplus from within the
include file if all else fails.

    Thanks
    Sujit

    Hi Sujit,

Did this start happening with 4.1?
No. It is happening since 4.0

    2) Does it work when you have no create procedure calls in
    the file?
No. I tried removing create procedure call, still it does not
    work.

    3) What is the error message it gives you when this happens?
    Here is error.

    Hi sujit,

I also plan to support shell script invocation hooks with
this change, so you can just call sqlplus from within the

-If you add sqlplus facility for include file it will save lot of
    efforts (yours and mine too).

    Thanks,

Sometime middle of this week, Wednesday or Thursday. Because
the conditions are getting more and more complex, I thought
it best to move the parsing logic out into a regular parser,
rather than have a bunch of if statements. That would also
enable us to add more functionality without too much pain
should the need arise. So I am building a JavaCC parser for
this. I am debugging it now, hence the target date.

Its checked into CVS now, give it a whirl and let me know if
you find any problems. There is documentation on the syntax
in the sqlunit-book.xml file, look for "Include File
Syntax". You can also generate the grammar file using ant jjdoc.

    2) First thing it does not like comments in sql file.see error

    Ok, I need more information:
    1) EXEC does not work - Do you need to use EXECUTE PROCEDURE
or CALL in Oracle. Does this work from within Java code? The
error message says "Invalid SQL statement" which probably
means that it does not like the syntax itself, rather than
it cannot find it. The database is specified within the
connection-id attribute, or if not specified the default
    connection.
    2) Comments in SQL file - as I mentioned in the feature
request, /* */ form was never supported and that is
documented. I can probably add the support though.
    3) Not sure of the "sql file with any sql statement does not
work". Can you provide an example and the error message you
are getting? I can then use this as an actual testcase to
    verify whats happening.
3a) Expects no blank space before SQL statement: again, an
example and the error message will help.

    Thanks

    Hi Sujit,

    Here is the information.

    Your question
    Ok, I need more information:
    1) EXEC does not work - Do you need to use EXECUTE
    PROCEDURE
or CALL in Oracle. Does this work from within Java code? The
error message says "Invalid SQL statement" which probably
means that it does not like the syntax itself, rather than
it cannot find it. The database is specified within the
connection-id attribute, or if not specified the default
    connection.
    Answer:
I)I only need exec nameofprocedure currently. But if you give
facility for EXECUTE PROCEDURE "nameofprocedure" or CALL
procedurename might be useful to others in long run.

II) I dont think this is problem of connection. Because I can
create procedure in same sql file which works (provided there
are no comment and spaces which issue introduced by new
    enhancement *I think*).
    --------------------------------------------------------
    Your question:
    2) Comments in SQL file - as I mentioned in the feature
request, /* */ form was never supported and that is
documented. I can probably add the support though.
    Answer:
    I) The same sql file which was working till 4.0 and 4.1 where I
had /* */ comment in the sql file. I think this is new issue
introduced in latest code. Thanks for your support for
adding /* */ this support with new code architecture.

    Your question:
    3) Not sure of the "sql file with any sql statement does not
work". Can you provide an example and the error message you
are getting? I can then use this as an actual testcase to
    verify whats happening.
3a) Expects no blank space before SQL statement: again, an
example and the error message will help.
    Answer:
    I) I am talking about blank spaces in the sql file causing sql
file which use to work in 4.0 and 4.1 , currently not working
at all. If you fix spaces issue (after sql statement and before
sql statment and comment issue). I think everything will be
good. Here is sample sql file ( which use to work) for debuging
purpose. Hopefully you will get idea about the problem. Please
let me know if you need anything.

    Error message as following.
