Weird.  I don't see anything unusual in the configure output or 
config.log except for the lack of ANSI C header files, and in that case, 
the configure script failed to write out a test program for some reason.

Could you post the list of files in the freetds and freetds-dev 
packages?  Maybe that will shed some light on the issue.
