I'm getting ready to release 0.5 and doing some last testing.  Firebird 
(kinterbasdb) seems to return read-write buffers instead of Python 
strings.  Very strange.  Anyway, I'll probably just ignore that for the 
release, but what's up with that?  We probably don't need to deal with 
it, but it's wonky and maybe we should (or at maybe include an option 
to str-ify such results).
