Hi to All, I would like to know if someone on this list has a better idea on howto efficiently solve the following problem: I would like to create an application with sqlobject and then deploy it to the rough environment of the internet. I would like to keep the server as dumb as possible and the logic on the client side. Before deployment I thought of the possibility of overriding sqlobject to enable some form of encrypted, user authenticated communication with a some sort of server side security model. As far as I have understood I will have to deal with lazy updating to keep down unnecessary traffic. I thought of plainly exchanging sqlobject with some sql_rpc_client that then should do some gpg file encrypting, sending, waiting, receiving, decrypting, returning. [gpg would be nice, it could spread the usage of this fine tool. ] On the other side a sql_rpc_server prefabricated server could listen to and handle the requests. Now I do not know if it would make sense to parse the given client code before deployment and creating something like an array of signatures which then could be loaded to the server enabling this to decide which requests are allowed and which not. This is just a first plot. The problem of developing a rich client with sqlobject and just having the database running for central data access over an insecure route must have been solved thousands of times. So how do I develop an application with sqlobject with the following prerequisites: [] + for deploying just change minimal lines of code, no client logic [] + restrict the possibilities for sql-calls on the server side, user dependant [] + encrypt and authenticate in this scenario [] + do this on m$, *nix plattforms Any hints, links to possible additional problems would be greatly appreciated.
