This works for PostgreSQL (and should for all ANSI complient databases).
First, define this small helper:
class Default(object):
~ def __sqlrepr__(self, dbName):
~ return "DEFAULT"
DEFAULT = Default()
Then define your field as:
~ field = Col(default=DEFAULT)
