   You have to wait until SQLObject metaclass creates the class and fetches
the columns:

class News(SQLObject):
        _connection = conn
        _connection.debug = True
        class sqlmeta:
                fromDatabase = True
                idName = 'NID'
                style = FOMStyle()

News.body.prettyName = 'Post Body'
News.subject.prettyName = 'Subject'
