SQL Monitor by SQLXL is an easy to configure tool that will monitor your SQL server and email alerts when any of the SQL servers exceed your pre-defined performance thresholds. It will also record what was running on the server and the time the alert was triggered.

The application can also automatically kill any queries that exceed a pre-defined threshold.
