A date hasn't been set yet, but I'm hoping to release the first beta package next month.
We're dealing with the following issues:
- Database Relationships need to be fetched
- templates need to be ported
- documentation needs to be (re)written
The SVN version will already allow you to generate code, but the templates are only partially ported from the 2.6 release to the 3.0 release. Imho I think this will take most of our time. During the evenings, I'm writing some documentation but again, this will always be a work in progress. Someone else is taking a look at the relationship fetching but he didn't gave me an estimated timeframe yet.
Appart from the things mentioned above, there are still some 'nice-to-haves' which may need to be developed but which can wait till after the main release. These include:
- Eclipse and netbeans plugins
- A graphical GUI to select the filters
- Even more templates
I will post a release date for the beta release as soon as I get in touch with the person writing the database relationships.

PS: We are busy setting up a build environment so we can support nightly builds in the future. This will make it easier for everyone to pick a build and start using it.

Thanks for your answer, I'll try building from SVN. I need to write my custom templates anyway and I don't use DB relationships so far.
Besides, this is slightly off-topic, but I'm very curious about the issue so I'll ask, do you perhaps know what happened to Middlegen ?? It looks like abandoned some 4 years ago and I couldn't run the gui interface, but it seems it was very complete. The only comment I've found was about it being abandoned by the time Hibernate 3.0 was released, but Hibernate is ORM, not code generation...

Daniel

Hmm, to be quite honest, I have absolutely no idea. It is true that because of all the nifty ORM technologies some projects decided to stop with it, but as you say code generation is far from dead.
I hope you'll enjoy using the new version. Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Hi !
I would like to know if there is a roughly approximate release date for the new 3.0 version.
Cheers,
Daniel
