I had sql-ledger installed on a SuSE 9.1 machine and dumped my database file from the Linux machine and loaded it into postgresQL on the OS X machine However, I tried to log on as my old user and had not gone through the sql-ledger admin setup of users and databases. The error given in the error_log /var/log/httpd/error_log "Compilation failed in require at /Library/WebServer/Documents/sql-ledger/login.pl line 90. Error: users/members : No such file or directory" Of course that was a different message as reported in the Apache screen. Also found that by default, /etc/httpd/httpd.conf looks in the directory /etc/httpd/users for that sql-ledger-httpd.config Therefore I just used the instructions per sql-ledger's README file and did not have to edit httpd.conf I'm a Happy camper -- now ready to find out if this thing will do the job for me. I have read several mails reporting the use of SQL-Ledger for ISP Billing. We are considering the use SL as billing sistem for an ISP. The ISP will offer several plans: Prepaid, postpaid, montly rates and based on consume (time or bandwith). We plan to interface bandwith-accounting with user authentication and billing system. Has anybody made experiences in this area? Hi, I was running sql-ledger 2.2.1 on red hat 9. Then I upgraded to fedora core 3 and sql-ledger 2.4.7. Hi: Some advises: 1-Did you followed the updates procedures from SQL-Ledger 2.2.1 to 2.4.7? 2-The sql-ledger.conf changed, please check the new values in the default= . 3.Review you have DBD-Pg and DBI installed. Perhaps you will need to update them. Best Regards, Antonio Gallardo On Mie, 26 de Enero de 2005, 6:53, te...@fr... dijo: > Hi, > > I was running sql-ledger 2.2.1 on red hat 9. Hi, =20 I've been using QuickBooks for 5 years so it is hard to cut the cord so for the time being I would like to operate my business using SQL-Ledger but still pass all the financial data back to QuickBooks. I know some people may advise against this but I really feel like a slower transition would be better for me. I also have the QB automatic payroll, etc which would be very difficult for me to give up. Has anyone done this before? Is it possible and\or practical to link the two? Can I export the financials in QB to SL and vice versa? If you have done this before, can you shed a little light? Thanks in advance. =20 Scott =20 =20 |

Greetings all, I just installed 2.6.1 (via setup.pl) and got it up and running. It's on a FreeBSD server in the house, which also handles mail etc, so the box is visible to the world. --------------------------- Side note: A most useful general tip BTW, is to *additionally* password protect the entire sql-ledger directory using .htaccess. More information on .htaccess protection, and how to implement it, can be found here: http://www.freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/htaccess/1 And additional reading here: http://www.apacheweek.com/features/userauth --------------------------- OK my question concerns "datasets". In my scenario I intend to create a valid company db *and* a test company. The purpose of the test company is to create a valid environment to test stuff without risking actual company data. (I assume "dataset" in our context refers to a db populated with necessary tables and skeleton data based on preferences) My problem is that I cannot see how to easily create additional datasets. Should I: 1) create a db first in postgresql admin (webmin in this case) and then go ahead and attempt to create a dataset? I ask this because I have one (fairly obvious from the FAQ) user 'sql-ledger'... Or should I: 2) create another db_user for the second dataset and *THEN* "Create Dataset" in admin.pl? The README is sort of ambiguous on this point. Sorry for the exceptionally basic nature of the questions, and TIA for any advice and suggestions from the gurus. Regards, -Colin |

You can use the same postgresql user for all datasets. The sql-ledger user determines which dataset is being accessed. Create a dataset for your real stuff (called businessname) and then create a dataset fro the test stuff called businessname-test. Now create a sql-ledger user that will access businessname and another to access businessname-test.=20 On Mon, 2005-10-17 at 11:26 +0200, Colin Raven wrote: > Greetings all, > I just installed 2.6.1 (via setup.pl) and got it up and running. And more to the point of your question I think, once you have created the pg user sql-ledger and given it the ability to create databases, you can handle all the other steps from within the sql-ledger browser admin.pl interface. SL users are distinct from postgres users are distinct from system users. An SL user is associated with one and only one SL dataset. -- Hugh On Mon, 17 Oct 2005 11:08:38 -0400 "James P. You might consider using a local machine as a print server running cups server, and the remote server printing to it running cups client. That would work using IPP. Just a thought. Has anyone had any success integrating the SL-POS patch into SL 2.6.9? The files seem very different from the 2.4.12 build of SL that they were built against. SL-POS does not yet support 2.6.9, and I tried downloading version 2.4.12 from like 4 different places on the web, but all had many of the perl files in the rool of sql-ledger with nothing in them except the first line specifying where perl is located, even the admin.pl file, so I cant even instal that version to try and run the patch against. I am particularly interested in the support for cash drawers, invoice printers and barcode stuff which is why I'm looking at the SL-POS package since I cant find anything out there.
