I would think that invoice numbers should be unique, and I have argued
that point for several years on this list. However, the powers that be
feel that this is a user training issue (eg 'tell your users not to
make duplicates'). I think you'll find that you're probably using the
'Post As New' function which easily allows you to create duplicate
invoice numbers. A long time ago we put a unique index on the AR and OE
tables to stop duplicates, and we also modified the code to get a new
Invoice (or PO) number if posting as new and a number is already assigned.
