I think I found out what GIFI-code stands for (at least what the apprevation
stands for).
General Index of Financial Information (GIFI
As a corporation, you have to include financial statements when you file a T2
Corporation Income Tax Return. Financial statements usually consist of a
balance sheet, a statement of retained earnings, an income statement, and
often, notes to financial statements. We at CCRA are introducing a new method
for filing this information: the General Index of Financial Information
(GIFI). When you use the GIFI, you will not need to submit your financial
statements with your return and schedules.
What is the GIFI?
The GIFI is an extensive list of financial statement items where each item has
a unique code (e.g., cash is 1001).
Our goal in developing the GIFI was to provide a list of financial statement
items that would allow your corporation to report its unique combination of
accounts. The GIFI lets you select items you usually show on your financial
statements, so you can give the same level of detail that you report now.
