Hello: Very nice initiative! Could you, please, create rpm for the http://www.conectiva.com distribution? > - default apache username and group nobody, nobody > - default location of the apache DocumentRoot /home/httpd/html > - possible additional actions needed to make SQL-Ledger work (in addit= ion > to those listed in http://www.sql-ledger.org/source/packaging.html) Well, I will do some testing.... There are Conectiva rpms ready for perl , perl-DBI, perl-DBD-Pg, tetex-latex, tetex, tetex-dvips. But there are not for dvipdf.... I found one at www.rpmfind.net , from www.bero.org . > As always, all feedback and comments are welcome. > -- > Martin Lillepuu You could send the test rpm by email to me, before making them available= at your site withou testing. Best regards. Andre Felipe |

If you have a pre perl 5.005 you need to install older versions of DBI and DBD-Pg. Try DBI 0.69 and DBD-Pg 0.95 Dieter Simader http://www.sql-ledger.org (780) 472-8161 DWS Systems Inc. The dbase specific drivers are of the form DBD::DBase. Hence the MySQL version is DBD::MySQL. The official CPAN mirrors seem to only go back as far as 0.90, I found a 0.73 at one of the rpmfind mirrors. I'm sure a little work with one of the search engines will turn up DPD-Pg-0.69. hi omar, might be time to check out debian if you are going to reinstall - i found that after RH has been installed for a year or so the dependencies get mixed up and become so much of a mess that further RPM installation becomes impossible. most people start out with RH/mandrake but once they switch to debian they tend to stick with it. as far as i remember the packages required on debian were libdbi-perl and libdbd-pg-perl and were installed by typing #apt-get install libdbi-perl libdbd-pg-perl and the system automatically downloads the latest versions of the required packages. also, slackware is known to be a good distro for machines which are carrying out specific tacks shuch as database and web serving etc. kev bailey Omar BaheyEldin wrote: > I am fed up, > I will upgrade , Will have the CD today (I hope) > > At 07:47 Õ 27/03/02 +0530, Kenneth Gonsalves wrote: > >> dbi and dbd will not work on redhat 5.2. i dont know about postgres, >> but for >> mysql there is a composite thingie called, i think, dbd::mysql that >> does the >> work of both dbi and dbd >> kg >> On Tuesday 26 March 2002 22:22, Omar BaheyEldin wrote: >> > >Hi All, >> > >> > Have there any body who was able to make sql-ledger work under >> Redhat linux >> > 5.2, >> > I have had terrible four or five days trying to install the DBI and >> > DBD but I have failed in that >> > Omr >> > >> > >> > _________________________________________________________ >> > Do You Yahoo!? >> > Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com > > > > _________________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com > > > > |

hi omar, its *upgrading* the libraries/packages which may cause problems. on internet facing servers it is necessary to install security updates - and on workstations you obviously want the latest version of apps - but i agree - if the server is a print/file/etc server then it may not need updating and therefore can be left in peace, also - whilst we're on the subject - it is possible to update ALL the packages on a debian m/c with #apt-get update // to update the list of packages and #apt-get upgrade // to fetch, install and configure all packages on the m/c. i've not used RH for a while so i don't know - but - is this possible on RH? kev bailey BTW i know of servers which run these commands every night as a cron job so the servers are always up to date.
