Um.. only if you're not using it, of course. Try 36000 - 10 hours - instead, or whatever you like. I honestly had this same problem when I upgraded from c 2.6.12 to 2.6.19. It was extremely annoying and the symptoms EXACTLY met the descriptions: "I'll logon and then immediatly be presented with a timeout / please logon screen" and "it gets into a loop and asks for the passwd everytime I try to get another screen. logging into BOTH the meny frame and the main frame seems to satisfy it." My timeout was also set to a "silly" number - as many 99999999999999s as I could fit in the box, I think. Setting the timeout to a more reasonable number resolved the issue for me. If this is a problem for you, start by setting the timeout to an hour and then work upwards. Even having to log in every hour cannot be worse than logging in and then getting the "session timeout, please log in" message on the very next page. I know how annoying this message is - I too have experienced it on a minutely basis. > I wish Dieter would have a magic value that would disable the > thing. It is annoying... > ...in my environment it is simply an annoyance. Whining about the problem doesn't help. Documenting the problem and saying "the timeout setting works perfectly when it is set below 2^16 seconds [1], but when it is set above this figure then the user experiences inappropriate session timeout messages & logon demands" allows people to actually diagnose the issue & maybe resolve it for you. Stroller. [1] or 65,536 seconds, 2^32 seconds, 3 hours, 4,294,967,296 seconds or whatever. |

Google is your friend, though Gothic and Latex produce unexpected results :-)-O there are almost 10000 articles returned for http://www.google.com.na/search?q=%22Century+Gothic%22+latex&btnG=Search So, it takes a bit of study to figure ut how LaTeX does the font substitutions, and please. let us know the cookbook version. el on 11/18/06 1:01 AM William Hamilton said the following: > Stroller wrote: >> On 17 Nov 2006, at 03:24, William Hamilton wrote: >> >>> How can I choose which font appears in the heading of LaTeX >>> invoices? If you upgrade to Postgresql 8.1.5.....make sure you read the release notes. They have changed the way an upgrade is done. An automated script backs up your config settings, and your data using pg_dumpall. It then tries to restore the data. In my case, the backup worked fine but, for some reason the restore failed. Manually restoring the database with the backup located in /var/lib/pgsql/backups worked ok Cheers, Roy |

I have done quite a bit of work on using different fonts in LaTeX templates recently and am able to help, but it's different (but not difficult) if you're using the HTML template. I use the LaTeX .tex templates because their layout will be very consistent - I think that using the HTML option when you print could cause the invoice to print differently with another browser. A refund in this case is just a negative payment of course. I guess hack the template to negate the sign - the accounting treatment should probably be fine though...? Out of curiousity did you just change the code to add the template, or did you use the "plugin architecture" to extend the code? Ed W |

Hi Again Just to recap my issue was most definitely a ntp issue. The SL Finance server ntp daemon had died and it lost over a period of time when I had done the last update 20 mins and the Clients which are on a Windows domain and had the correct time where via the web interface having session expiry issues after clicking 4 or 5 times. After restarting ntp daemon and thus monitoring for a short while all was back to normal. How am I supposed to deal with refund checks? If a customer overpays, or returns something then I have to give them money back. Our policy, to reduce credit card transaction processing fees, is to issue a check. The problem is that customers don't show up in the Payment screen, only the receipt screen. There was no check template associated with the receipt screen, so I added it. The problem is, to make the books balance you have to receive a negative amount. So I'm printing checks with negative signs in them. Obviously I'm doing things wrong - there's no way nobody is issuing refund checks and certainly nobody is giving out checks with negative payments. Right? Dave ____________________________________________________________________________________ Sponsored Link Mortgage rates near 39yr lows. $510k for $1,698/mo. Hi Brian, I'm using Debian as well - but not for SQL-Ledger as I need to stay (close to) the current development. I don't have problems to run setup.pl (though I remember that there was a problem with one of the earlier releases). In such case you can download the whole package and install it manually. If you follow the README information you should not have any problems. Roy Thx for your suggestions. While possible, I'm no fan of potentialy error-prone spreadsheet solutions. I run accounting systems for use by others, so they need to be simple and robust. This weekend I shall grab a copy of Dieter's 2.7 beta and see what report options have been added. (Being a paid-up subscriber does have advantages beyond the user manual! /end of plug.) Otherwise, yes it shall need a custom solution, perhaps similar to doctor EL's suggestion. Dr EL And thx for those clues too. Max Thx for your suggestion. Regretably, that existing report is not quite adequate. David J > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > Have you looked at the General Ledger Report? The only issue i see is sorting the GL report on both account AND on date. You can only sort on account OR date with the current GL report. Options: You could easily copy the GL report into a spreadsheet and then do the double sort. Or use a direct SQL query via psql like Eberhard's example. According to the website, the new version will have more report options...maybe the ability to do this report sort format is part of that. Other than that you can make a feature request at the bottom of this web page http://www.sql-ledger.org/cgi-bin/nav.pl?page=ahead.html&title=What's%20Ahead Cheers, Roy On Thursday 16 November 2006 11:55 am, Max Schneider, Image Innovation wrote: > Have you looked at the General Ledger Report? The postgreSQL log is your friend. You can use something like SELECT c.accno, c.description, ac.transdate, g.id, round(ac.amount::numeric,2) as Amount, g.reference, g.description, substr(g.notes,1,55) as Notes, ac.memo FROM gl g JOIN acc_trans ac ON (g.id = ac.trans_id) JOIN chart c ON (ac.chart_id = c.id) LEFT JOIN department d ON (d.id = g.department_id) WHERE 1 = 1 AND ac.transdate >= '2005-03-01' AND ac.transdate <= '2006-02-28' UNION ALL SELECT c.accno, c.description, ac.transdate, a.id, round(ac.amount::numeric,2) as Amount, a.invnumber, ct.name, substr(a.notes,1,55) as Notes, ac.memo FROM ar a JOIN acc_trans ac ON (a.id = ac.trans_id) JOIN chart c ON (ac.chart_id = c.id) JOIN customer ct ON (a.customer_id = ct.id) LEFT JOIN department d ON (d.id = a.department_id) WHERE 1 = 1 AND ac.transdate >= '2005-03-01' AND ac.transdate <= '2006-02-28' UNION ALL SELECT c.accno, c.description, ac.transdate, a.id, round(ac.amount::numeric,2) as Amount, a.invnumber, ct.name, substr(a.notes,1,55) as Notes, ac.memo FROM ap a JOIN acc_trans ac ON (a.id = ac.trans_id) JOIN chart c ON (ac.chart_id = c.id) JOIN vendor ct ON (a.vendor_id = ct.id) LEFT JOIN department d ON (d.id = a.department_id) WHERE 1 = 1 AND ac.transdate >= '2005-03-01' AND ac.transdate <= '2006-02-28' ORDER BY 1, 3, 4; I was going to hack me a perl script this summer using a module from the CPAN archive to generate a proper spreadsheet with formatted columns. greetings, el David J wrote: > Hi List > > We're trying to produce a report that would probably be > called "GL Transaction list, sorted by account" or similar. > Sometimes simply called a "General Ledger listing". > > Company Auditors (and tax auditors) usually ask for this > report. Hi List We're trying to produce a report that would probably be called "GL Transaction list, sorted by account" or similar. Sometimes simply called a "General Ledger listing". Company Auditors (and tax auditors) usually ask for this report. All GL transactions, within a date range, sorted by account code (or range), and then sorted by date. Presented nicely, topped and tailed, and printed. Most accounting systems I've ever used have a way of producing such a list, for a range of accounts, and/or for a range of dates. Importantly, ALL the details of each transaction need to be listed, ie Date, Source, Reference, Memo, Description, Notes, Amount, and account balance. Such a report is fairly standard for any accountant or auditor seeking to confirm entries in the GL system. But we can't quite find how to do this in SQL-L. Can get close by using the Trial Balance (by date range), then click at one account at a time. That produces a list of transactions for a single account, but also there's no full details, memos notes, etc. Have also examined the SQL-L manual without finding how to do this. Has anybody else mastered this ? TIA's -David J |

Tim This is really a browser issue, rather than SQL-L (although I do understand why you choose to post here). This issue has been discussed (thrashed ?) in the Firefox forums. The best info I can find for you is here. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=446830&postdays=0&postorder=asc&postsperpage=50&start=0 Hope it helps you get it sorted. Presume you know how to use about:config in Firefox. Cheers - David J > Hi > > I recently upgraded to Firefox 2.0 and have found that the > Hot Keys ie. Hi Dieter Cheers for the reply - Richard's advise about checking my sl server's time and the clients accessing SL time where the factor 20 mins difference. ntpd had stopped!. Thus started ntp client on the sl server which was 20 mins behind the clients and my watch. The session timeout when you log in to admin.pl is preset at 600 seconds. This cannot be changed unless you change the code. The user's timeout value can be set to any value. If frequent timeouts occur try something like 86400 (1 day). This will take care of problems with GMT between browser and server as well as daylight savings time differences. -- Dieter Simader http://www.sql-ledger.com Tel: (780) 472-8161 DWS Systems Inc. Hi List Hi List Richards tip was the clincher On the finance sl server to look up or signal processes based on name I run # pgrep ntpd - and there wasn't a process number Thus used Yast > Network Services > NTP Client and check "When booting System" and check the ntp servers ntp0.ISP.net ntp1.ISP.net and ntp2.ISP.net Thus run # ntpq -p and thus the SL power users where able to click to their hearts content as prior to this it was 4 or 5 clicks.
