I'm looking to use automated ways of entering billing data into sql-ledger. After poking about in the perl code, I thought: Why not use some command-line web tools like commline, and I can spec the 'page' to send. (ftp://ftp.w3.org/pub/old/comline/) But, before I start walking down the primrose path of using a command-line web tool, I am wondering if anyone else has used such a tool in the past to do what I am looking to do? (and I'm going to look at the PDF report work of another user of SQL-Ledger and see if it can generate the invoices from history. Then I might just make a custom.pl that inputs the billing info right into the sql-ledger tables and then do 'history dumps') Has anyone found the gnue.org accounting standards talk interesting? Given I don't wake up in the morning, stretch my arms and say "its a nice sunshiny day, think I'll code an accounting package" I am more interested in using a package and adding small bits, than learning accounting principles reading standards documents, and THEN writing accounting code. (I also don't say "this is as pretty as an airport" and "I look forward to doing more business with my local telco/cable company" ) |
