What I am looking for is something like what Nebosja is describing, that the very nice correcting capabilities in sql-ledger be retained, buth that there is a facility to mark all transactions as "unchangeable" at a certain point in time, eg when you have finished all bookkeeping for a month, a quarter or a year. I think this is a useful feature, and as reported here it seems to be a legal requirement in a number of countries, for bigger firms.
