Upgrade from 1.4.5 to 1.6

I'm trying to upgrade my sql-ledger version from 1.4.5 to 1.6. I ran 
psql database < upgrade-1.4-1.6.sql with no errors, moved the new sql-ledger 
directoryand files to the same location as the original, and then logged into 
http://localhost/sql-ledger/admin.pl to add a user. No probels until I try to 
save the user, at which time I get the following error:

User=HASH(0x82521f8).
I don't suppose anyone would know where I went wrong here would they?
