The links tie everything together. They also indicate which accounts are
to be included in the drop down lists.

Account type:
Type of account (Asset, Liability, ....)

Heading -> this is a header only
Account -> regular account


Is this a summary account to record [ AR | AP | IC ] ->
check either AR, AP, IC if it is a collection account for receivables,
payables or inventory


In the Link account to: section the boxes indicate

Receivables:
Income -> use this account to record income
Tax 1 -> tax you collect
Tax 2 -> ditto for second level tax
Deposit -> where you put the money you receive from your customers

Payables:
Expense/Asset -> record expenses and assets you purchase
Tax 1 -> tax you pay when you purchase goods or services
Tax 2 -> ditto
Payment -> account you use to pay for purchases

Parts Inventory:
Sales -> record sales for items sold
COGS -> record expense for sold items

Service Items:
Income -> record sales for services sold
Expense -> record expense when you purchase a service


The "Link" setup is another way of linking accounts by entering the
account numbers. It is quicker to link the accounts but you have to know
the account numbers beforehand.
