[SQL-Ledger-users] Process Receipts Question

Hello,

When I go to Receipts under the A/R menu group, the Process Receipts
dialog is displayed.

Does anyone know how the RECEIVED portion is supposed to work?  I mean
you can put a date there and an ammount, but does it get applied to? 
How is this related to the invoices?
