Did you have anybody with basic book keeping skils look at your files? Current earnings would be the difference between expenses and income for any given period. Also known as result. Now if my result was off by 50k, personally I would start to wonder what is going on. Basic sanity check: 1) Do you have more or less than expected? 2) If less, would it be possible somebody is doing something with funds that is not entirely the way it should be? (Also known as fraud). 3) Wild guess: did you do any year-end processing at all? If not, all results from day one till now would be seen as current earnings. At year end, it is a good habit to add any profits to the available reserves (equity) and start over for the new year.
