If you discount the item 100% then you will not be able to pay the invoice from the donations account and you will lose the ability to show your charitable donations in your balance sheet / income statement etc. Your accountant might be the best one to start answering the question - find out what the end result needs to be (eg: a GL account showing donations to charity as an expense account), and then find a way to do that in SL while keeping stock etc correct.
