[SL] Some general questions

Hello all i have a general question that i could not seem to find answers for in the archives or Google.  

I had a user created and he had access to everything I made him an admin and now a bunch of the options are unchecked under access control.  When i check them off again and try to save them nothing happens.  How do i get access to these features again?
