Currently (1.1.15), the options for whitespace are
[[.compact on]] (default) and [[.compact off]].

1. Can we have [[.compact off] as the default? This
will help avoid the extra newline(s) in this kind of code:

#!/usr/bin/python

[[.compact off]]

<?xml...?>
...

2. Can we have a newline immediately following a closing
spyce tag automatically removed, as in PHP:

http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.basic-
syntax.php

Or maybe even something like in Albatross (though
this level of complexity may not be warranted):

craft.com.au/projects/albatross/albatross/tug-
white.html

    The v1.1.17 release should address these concerns. Read
    about the changes to the compact tag at:
    http://spyce.sourceforge.net/manual.html#directives.
    Hopefully, this is what was intended. Please leave a return
    email address in future.
